The i980L is an Ultra Short Throw Laser TV designed for an optimal A/V experience. Its metal body design gives a sense of the rhythm of light. When placed in a TV cabinet, it can project a 120-inch 4K image at human-eye color quality with the highest standard of BT.2020 wide color gamut.

The living environment design among consumers who can afford high-end A/V equipment is usually luxurious. The Ultra Short Throw Laser TV is for the high-end A/V market, so its design must strike a balance between technology and luxury to highlight audio and video features. Our research shows two user pain points: One is that users have trouble readjusting images shifted by an accidental collision. The other is that dust will affect projection performance. Therefore, the shape of the i980L is designed to highlight luxurious yet low-key features, and its user experience aims to solve the two pain points.

経緯とその成果

The body of the i980L is designed using complex metal craftsmanship to create rhythmic light features for the front end of the device. This design echoes the rhythm of sound and highlights the highest standard of A/V performance. The electric sliding door is finished with delicately brushed metal and has a hairline texture, and its auto open/close function gives viewers a sense of ritual. Moreover, the sliding doors protect the optical lens from damage caused by dust. The inclined design of the side air vents prevents dust from affecting projection and makes cleaning easier. Patented side positioning sliders, which can be hidden, use the image size as a scale and enable quick optimal alignment between the projector and the screen, even if locations are shifted.
