在日前最新公布的2021年度日本G-Mark设计大奖评选结果中,明基ScreenBar Halo智能屏幕挂灯成功获得Good Design Award的表彰。Good Design Award是于1957年创设的日本唯一综合类设计评价推荐制度。它是一项“通过设计以丰富产业生产以及生活文化”的运动,每年都吸引大量来自全球的企业或设计师参加。迄今为止,获奖总数已逾50000件,而作为获奖的证明以及荣誉象征的“G标志”,也为广大消费者认可并推崇。

The ScreenBar Halo is a monitor light with a patented fixture and simple installation that protects the health of the user’s eyes. The brightness and color temperature of the front and rear light can be controlled through the desktop wireless controller. The rear lighting can alleviate the glare caused by the contrast between the eyes and the screen. The light can be powered through USB.

There are some issues with traditional lights: Incorrect brightness, limited desktop space, and the light reflecting off the screen. So, we wanted to develop a light for the office worker who spends extended periods of time working in front of a screen. We used the “Design Thinking” method to understand and observe people’s behavior when using screens and traditional lights. After which, we set a goal: To create a light that can illuminate the desktop without causing glare off the screen and save desktop space. Our designers and engineers worked together to design and develop the conceptual prototype.

The ScreenBar Halo product seeks to be a comfort-optimized illumination solution for reading needs in the digital age. A rear light was added to the light design so that the uniform light can be more balanced in the working environment, reducing glare and reflections. In terms of the mounting method, in order to allow users to easily attach the light to various screens, we tested the thickness of a variety of screens and adjusted the spring, weight distribution, and friction of the fixture. The final design can be attached to screens that are thicker, curved, and made of any material. Our light fixture has also been patented.

パソコン作業が増えた昨今、デスク周りで紙の資料や本を読む照明としてモニター(ディスプレイ)用ライトの需要が伸びている。デスク照明を置くと光が映り込み、画面上の文字が読みにくくなるが、モニター用ライトはこの映り込みなく卓上を照らすことができる。さらに発光するモニターと卓上の明るさのコントラストを弱めて目の負担を減らすこともできる。ユーザー観察を重ねてデザインされた本製品は、壁などモニター背面とのコントラストも軽減するべく、取り付けクランプ部分に背面用の照明を用意。ワイヤレスキーボードでモニターから離れて操作していることも想定して明るさ調整用のワイヤレスのダイヤルも用意した。ダイヤルの回し心地なども含め、試行錯誤が行われているのを感じた。

The amount of computer work has increased in recent years, and there is a growing demand for lights used with monitors (displays) to also serve as lights for reading paper documents and books around the desk. Desk lights reflect light, making it difficult to read the writing on paper, but lights for monitors can illuminate desktops without reflecting. This also reduces the contrast between light-emitting monitors and the brightness of the desktop, which lessens the burden on eyes. The monitor light was designed based on user observations, and there is backside lighting for the attachment clamp part to reduce contrast with the backside of the monitor, such as walls. Assuming it will be operated while away from the monitor using a wireless keyboard, it also has a wireless dial to adjust the brightness. You can feel the trial-and-error undertaken to get aspects such as the pleasant feel when turning the dial.
